New Online Madness - Get a piece!

I have found a couple interesting articles, the first one is about online office suites and one-offs. It was written by Red Herring and you can find it here. Worth looking at no doubt if you like online collaboration tools and office alternatives, of course in my opinion they still fall short of Office 2007 but that’s no shocker. Here is my list of online office programs (starred are prefered):

Word (and wiki):
Writely *
Writeboard

pbWiki *

Wetpaint
Thinkfree
Rallypoint

Excel:
Google Spreadsheets *

The other article I ran across was on CNN describing what they thought the next generation of online fad sites were going to be. They break it up into categories like collaboration, social, “under the hood”, etc… good article and I agree with a lot of their picks. Check it out here.

I’m just hoping Google comes out with their OS and Office suite before the world comes crubbling down, because I dont know why, but I almost trust them. Ha.

Wrightsville Week

This has been the most productive and exhausting week of my life, recently anyway. From what I can remember we painted the kitchen and upstairs bathroom, made/hung curtains in the living room and kitchen, fixed cabnets, cleaned carpets, hung a chandelier and I drove 9 hours there and back to the beach. Geez.

The house is starting to look great, the kitchen already does… way to go team. It brings out of the other problems we haven’t gotten to yet though. Ick. Still need to paint the living room, furnish half the house, hang pictures, etc… I started the list and realized I’d rather not think about it. Karen’s mother did a lot or most of it, I worked all week and helped on the weekend.

Here goes my ode to the beach trip: left Charlotte eh, 4:30 or so… which means I woke up and got ready around 3:30am. Ouch. So I started driving and got hungry pretty quick obviously, stopped at McDonalds in Monroe and got breakfast. Then finished the rest of the trip down there. Had a hard time finding Mercers Pier at first, and I still have no idea where C street is. Arrived finally at around 8am I guess… Paid for parking, watched some locals surf, very glassy knee high in the morning. Walked to the Pier and back (couple miles), then around 9am I ate again at a local coffee shop (second breakfast I believe the Hobbits call it). After my bagel I went back down to the beach, hoping it got bigger while I was relaxing. It pumped up a half a foot or so… then around 10am I went to rent a 8′4″ longboard and changed into my suit. Hit the beach the first time, same knee high plus with a light bump. Had a lot of fun warming up but fucked up my knee pretty bad, at the time it just bled then I realized it was swollen pretty bad (got home and could barely walk). Parked on the sand for 30 minutes or so which is probably where I got this nasty burn. Hit the beach again and the waves where choppy 3ft by now, I gladly traded my glassy surf for some bigger breaks. Hit it pretty hard and had a lot of fun. After it was all said and done my damage included knee, sunburn, bruised ribs, and a broadside to the back of the neck. All in all I would do it again, pretty good surf by the Pier. Around 1:30 I ate some Pizza at Vito’s turned in my board, and took back home. 4 1/2 hours later I was home in time for dinner, now how good am I, just to make my wife happy. lol.
